FAQ
How long does it take to complete a Skinnymal?
It typically takes 1-2 hours to complete a Skinnymal depending on how detailed you want to get, but there’s no rush, you can cover it with food-wrap to prevent the clay drying and continue later – just enjoy the process!
Is Skinnymals suitable for children?
Yes! Skinnymals is designed for kids ages 8+, making it a great educational tool for teaching creativity and fine motor skills.
What’s included in the Skinnymals kit?
Each kit comes with a Skinnymal animal frame, a reference animal figurine, white clay, a cloth to work on, clay tools and easy-to-follow instructions are available here on this website. You’ll need to supply your own creativity!
What do we mean by Skinnymals kits are 100% reusable?
A finished Skinnymal sculpture can be displayed and enjoyed as part of a collection for as long as you like.
Even if you have painted it (with gouache paint which is re-wettable), you can wrap your finished sculpture in a wet cloth and place it in a plastic bag for a couple of days until the clay re-hydrates. It can now be peeled off the Skinnymal and someone else can have a go! No need to throw it any of it away, ever.
What is ‘Slow Fun’?
It’s the best way we can describe for now, doing something creative where the fun feels wholesome and long lasting. Where it’s possible to experience a joy that comes from a deep source, that is not easily exhausted.
